Japlanning 101 - Tokyo Skytree

Tokyo Sky Tree, the newest edition to Tokyo’s skyline which also happens to hold the title of the tallest tower in the world. Up the tower is two observation decks, not for anyone with a fear of heights.

We are coming up to Tokyo Sky Trees first anniversary, opening in May 2012 this new tower is the tallest building in Japan and the second tallest in the world. Standing at a staggering 634 metres, the tower is actually a large television broadcast antenna for Japans national television networks. However the tower has two observation sections one at 350 metres and another up at 450 metres.

Sushi is a food that is readily available across Japan. You can get it at every connivence store, Train Station, Supermarket, even sometimes at McDonalds, and usually your not too far from a Sushi Restaurant.

Waking up in Tokyo

Waking up in a Tokyo state of mind.

Sleeping soundly in our snug double we woke up at a fairly reasonable time in the morning ready to go. I find it weird that holidays are the only time I get up and am perked up and ready to go quickly, must be the anticipation of the day! We headed out into the daylight of Shinjuku in search of some traditional Japanese foods.

Landing in Japan

So we jumped off the plane at NRT with a dream and a rail pass….
Leaving home at about 4.30am, a couple of flights and 15 hours later we landed at Narita Airport. We had made it, Japan, we were in you. Now a day of flying will usually take it out of you, especially flying during the day. This flight felt like the longest I had ever endured, Couldn’t sleep, daylight most of the time and Jetstar. Thankfully the flight was less than half full! We got a row each and relaxed.
