How do the Japanese celebrate Christmas? A very small majority of Japanese are Christian, so the religious aspects of the holiday are mostly removed. However this doesn't stop the Christmas spirit popping up at attractions and in homes. Looking for a great place to ring in Christmas in 2015? Christmas is commercial and the main celebration involves activities on Christmas Eve. It’s important to note though, that Christmas is not a national holiday in Japan. Although many Japanese families will have a small “Christmas Party”, Christmas Eve is a date holiday, the time to treat that special someone to a romantic dinner and enjoy Japan’s spectacular lighting displays.

Universal Studios, Osaka

Between jaunting off to Kyoto and Hiroshima on our time down south, we spent some time in Osaka, and experienced Universal Studios, Osaka.

As we were staying opposite Universal Studios Osaka, and the theme park fiend that I am, we spent a day at the first Universal park in Asia. Although now they have a park in Singapore and one in development in South Korea, Osaka was the first dip into the Asian market for Universal Parks.

Before getting too comfortable in Tokyo it was time to head to Osaka.

To get down Osaka way, we got on the SHINKANSEN!! The Shinkansen as most normal people will say it, is the bullet train system all over Japan. Without getting into too much of a love letter to Japanese trains, it's amazing and you will ridicule your own countries train systems after experiencing it.
